Government of Tamil Nadu allots Rs. 1,500 crores for free laptops

Tamil Nadu government has allotted Rs. 1,500 crores for distribution of free laptops for school and college students this year, higher education minister P. Palaniappan said on September 7.
Free laptops scheme, which was limited to schools students only earlier, was extended to college students also from this year, he said after inaugurating “INSPIRE Award 2012”, a state level science exhibition here. Palaniappan said Rs.5, 000 was given to schools students to encourage their scientific research to bring forth their abilities and also come out with innovative projects.
