Govt of Brazil honours Gerson da Cunha with ‘Order of Rio Branco’

On Friday, November 16, 2018, Brazil’s National Day,  Mr. Gerson da Cunha was honored by the Government of Brazil with a medal of ‘Order of Rio Branco’ for his services to Brazil while with UNICEF. The ceremony was held at Taj Land’s End, Bandra and officiated by Brazil’s Consul General, Ms. Rosimar da Silva Suzano. UNICEF along with the Ministry of Health, Government of Brazil had, through a campaign, motivated mothers to breastfeed their infants for a longer period. 

About Gerson da Cunha: 

A science graduate from the University of Bombay, Gerson has worked a journalist and was the head of Lintas for 10 years. He also acted in numerous plays and movies such as Electric Moon (1992), Cotton Mary (1999), Asoka (2001) and Water (2005). He then moved on to work with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Latin America and New York City. Gerson has functioned in an honorary capacity as advisor in various union ministries and the National Technology Missions under the Cabinet Secretariat.
