Heart to Heart
Hello Parents! Do you enjoy helping your child with homework? Most parents would say an unequivocal ‘No.’ With all the other tasks that need to be completed, this just becomes another chore. We all want our children to experience the joy of learning. But do we experience it ourselves? Like most other sentient beings, children learn from what they see in our lives. If we want them to discover the joy of learning as they evolve, we should also experience the wonder of discovery. We might have gone through a rote-learning system at school, and missed out the interesting pedagogies that schools are beginning to use today. So why not try to experience the joy of learning now? Exploring your child’s books and subjects together with her might make you aware that there’s so much you don’t know or thought about. A little extra effort to go beyond textbooks and try some hands-on experiments or make a field trip will help you learn new things and simultaneously open new windows for your child. If you can invest time and effort to bring something new to her schoolwork, to find out a little more about the assigned topic, together you can take the boredom out of homework. Of course it’s difficult to find time, while trying to fit in everything possible in 24 hours. But if joy can be infused into her learning routine, it’s worth it. Facebook Twitter LinkedIn WhatsApp
