Hindu Public School, Hyderabad is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded by Late Sri Kanjerla Shankar Yadav in 1988 with 130 students and 6 class rooms, the school was the first project of the Swami Vivekananda Seva Samiti Educational Trust. The school’s first batch of class X students graduated in 1994 and today the school boasts more than 2600 students at present.
The school campus hosts spacious classrooms, well stocked library, well equipped labs for physics, biology, math, language and computer science, AV room, multipurpose hall, playground and indoor games facility.
Affiliated with CBSE, the school offers education from nursery through class X. English is the medium of instruction and Hindi/Telugu/Sanskrit are offered as second languages.
At the pre-primary level, the school follows activity oriented teaching method through role play, dances and songs to help children learn the concepts. Children also learn basic reading, writing and number work. The lessons and activities are carefully designed to motivate the students to learn.
The primary programme is informal and designed to make children enjoy learning. Children of classes I and II leave books at school and home work is in the form of assignments. The teaching methodology is varied activity based learning and fosters the 4C’s – curiosity, creativity, conversation and concept understanding and application. The programme includes math, science and social projects, introduction to computers with emphasis on understanding concepts and application and evaluation is through regular assessment of participation and performance in class work, home work, weekly and monthly tests and assessment work sheets.
The middle and secondary school programme is more formal and transition from the primary stage is according to CCE system laid down by the CBSE. At this level, the teaching methodology is interactive and includes lab activities, projects, activity based assignments, hands-on activities etc. The assessment is continuous and comprehensive and students are required to be updated with lessons conducted in school with the objective to assess student’s understanding of the subject and their ability to apply knowledge rather than to memorise.

SportsThe school publishes an advertisement on issue of application forms in local newspapers in the month of November/December. Application form and prospectus are issued at the school office between 9 am to 4 pm.
Nursery is the entry point to the school and admission to the LKG and UKG classes is subject to vacancy. Selection to these classes is on the basis of personal interaction with the child and parents.
For class I and above, admissions are subject to vacancy and candidates are required to qualify a proficiency test conducted to assess the candidate’s readiness level for the class applied for. Admission is offered on the basis of performance in the proficiency test.
