Hindustan University, Chennai was founded in 1985 by K. C. G. Verghese asHindustan College of Engineering. It was granted university status by theUniversity Grants Commissionin 2008 with thename Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science(HITS). The institution follows the motto “To make every man a success and no man a failure.” It strives to provide every individual with a conducive environment suitable to achieve his/her career goals with a strong emphasis on personality development, and to offer the academically inclined the resources to gain quality education in all spheres of engineering, applied sciences and management, without compromising the quality and code of ethics.
The institute campus is sited in the south eastern suburb of Chennai, Padur. It is located close toSIPCOT IT PARK, Siruseri which is about 25km from Chennai city and is also accessible by East Coast Road through Kovalam. Free WiFi is available throughout the campus. New and innovative techniques of teaching are practised. The university hosts an excellent library system which includes a central library anddepartmental libraries according to the teaching, research and extension programmes of the institute. All those who wish to avail the facility must take up a library membership. It is open to students, faculty members and other employees of the institution. Besides featuring a huge collection of books on engineering, science and humanities, the central library offers library services through its various divisions.

LabsThe candidates are required to clear their Higher Secondary exams with commendable marks for admission. There is an online Entrance Examination (HITSEEE) which is conducted every year. The university strictly follows the eligibility criteria of the state government. Candidates for postgraduate courses need to write the entrance tests, and sit for the the group discussions and personal interview.
