Consistently ranked Rewari’s #1 co-ed day school and among the Top 20 in Haryana state by EducationWorld, this 46-year-old CBSE school has established an excellent reputation for affordable, holistic and values-based education

Established on a four-acre campus on the outskirts of the fast-industrialising city of Rewari (pop.1.1 million), an hour’s drive from Delhi, Holy Child Public School (HCPS-R, estb.1979) has earned a good reputation for providing affordable, holistic, values-based K-12 education. In the annual EducationWorld India School Rankings, HCPS-R is consistently ranked Rewari’s #1 co-ed day school and among the Top 20 in Haryana state. Currently celebrating its 46th anniversary, the city’s first CBSE (Delhi)-affiliated co-ed day school has 2,100 children mentored by 104 well-qualified teachers on its muster rolls.

HCPS-R was promoted by South Africa-returned educator couple — Ramlal and Kanta Sachdeva — in 1979 under the aegis of the Sharada Education Foundation (regd.1985), with the mission to provide high-quality English-medium education in underserved Rewari and nurture “academically bright lifelong learners”. Since then, the school has blossomed into a progressive 21st-century academy offering rigorous curricula supplemented with excellent co-curricular and sports education.

“Our objective is to nurture critical thinkers, problem solvers and innovators equipped with the skills to meet the constantly changing needs of the Indian economy. Therefore, our curriculum integrates sports, co-curricular and life skills education with rigorous academics and special focus given to developing children’s multiple intelligences and experiential learning. To this end, we also pay great attention to the continuous professional development of our teachers, so they bring out the best in every child. Perhaps that’s why we have a near zero teacher attrition rate,” says Anirudh Sachdeva, an engineering and business management alum of NIT, Nagpur and IMT, Ghaziabad with leadership certification from the University of Wales (UK) and IIM-Ahmedabad, who took charge of the school as Director after his father and founder Ramlal passed away in 2011.

The school’s fully air-conditioned campus — distinguished by a Saraswati (goddess of learning) temple — hosts four academic blocks housing 66 Smart classrooms, three state-of-the-art science, computer science, language labs, two music laboratories, an Atal Tinkering Lab, a well-catalogued library with over 11,000 print volumes, and a 400-seat multipurpose hall.

To provide children joyful, holistic education as also to learn the life skills of teamwork and cooperation, sports and co-curricular education is accorded high importance. The school’s sports infrastructure includes grounds for football and cricket, basketball and volleyball courts, a roller-skating rink, and an athletics track. These sports facilities are supplemented with indoor games including table tennis, chess, gymnastics, badminton, and taekwondo.

Co-curricular activities introduced to develop children’s multiple intelligences include instrumental and vocal music, drama, and dance. Students also have the option to sign up for hobby clubs (English, science, robotics, and MUN), engage in student council activities, participate in educational excursions and environment and community service initiatives

“Social and community service is integral to the curriculum as our institutional objective is to develop compassionate, civic-minded citizens. The school sponsors the annual Rewari Marathon, raises funds for local government schools, supports a book bank for underprivileged children, and offers scholarships to orphans and economically disadvantaged children,” adds Sachdeva.

Following tradition, a substantial number of youth from Rewari, including HCPS-R school-leavers, opt for service within the defence services. Therefore, the school management provides in-house coaching for students aspiring to write the NDA (National Defence Academy) entrance exam. In addition, HPCS-R provides tuition fee concessions to wards of defence service personnel.

The school’s focus on holistic education has paid off by way of excellent academic outcomes. Of the 223 students who wrote the CBSE class X school-leaving exam in February-March 2025, 43 averaged 90 percent-plus with batch topper Yohana averaging 96.6 percent. In the CBSE class XII boards, 35 of 229 students averaged 90 perent plus. Moreover, HCPS-R students routinely excel in inter-school, district and national sports competitions.

“Although I am fairly satisfied with the development and evolution of HCPS-R, our long-term goal is to be ranked among Haryana’s Top 10 day schools. To upgrade, we will soon launch several development initiatives. For instance, we recently partnered with Encyclopedia Britannica to digitise the school library. We have also signed up with the Benesse Corporation, Japan to upgrade assessment systems for classes VI-X students and started teaching Japanese language to class III-VIII children. Moreover, we have finalised plans to build a modern auditorium and establish a professional recording studio, enabling students to engage in media, podcasting, and recording activities. We hope to introduce these new initiatives without raising fees as we believe in providing quality, affordable education,” says Sachdeva.
