More than 150 students studying in Grade 9th and 11th in Jamnabai Narsee International School (JNIS), Vile Parle (W), Mumbai, raised funds through a crowdfunding campaign on Fueladream.com to support 1 million meals to Government going school children in Thane and Nagpur. The students raised these funds within 20 days of the campaign going live, with the support of their parents, friends and family members.

The objective of the campaign is to support Akshaya Patra’s Mid-Day Meal Programme, which seeks to address
classroom hunger and serve tasty, nutritious, quality and a hygienic mid-day meal to schoolchildren, ensure a holistic development of the child in a long run.

Mr. Sundeep Talwar, CMO, Akshaya Patra, said, “This is a remarkable achievement from the students of JNIS,
Mumbai. The students have done a tremendous job in raising awareness & funds that will help us feed about 4,500 children across government and government aided schools in Thane and Nagpur and get closer to our mission of feeding 5 million children daily by 2025. These lessons learned at a young age have the ability to transform these students and make them consciousness leaders of tomorrow. We are grateful for their support including parents & the school administration of JNIS.”

Mr. Ranganath Thota, Founder of Fueladream.com, who has pioneered the school crowdfunding programme in
India and has already supported over 5,000 student-led campaigns across the country, said, “Students learn and
grasp the concept of crowdfunding very quickly. They are then able to unleash its power to make a dramatic impact.
The students at JNIS have done something extraordinary in just 3 weeks.”

Ms. Jasmine Madhani, the Head of School at Jamnabai Narsee International School, Mumbai, said, “Our goal is to
create compassionate life-long learners and leaders who will make a difference to the community, our nation and
the world at large. JNIS students develop programmes or initiate projects that bear testament to their commitment
to social justice, equality, and sustainability. One such initiative is a crowdfunding campaign for a cause. Through this initiative, students have now begun using social media as a platform for social change through genuine passion
tempered with tangible targets.”
