Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh is a coeducational residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Established in 1988, the school functions under the aegis of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Bhopal Region, under the Ministry of Human Resource Department, Government of India.
The school follows three language formula with Telugu as third language along with Hindi and English to promote national and lingual integrity. The school is linked with JNV Ongole, (Andhra Pradesh) under migration scheme and 30 percent students of class VIII from both the Vidyalayas are migrated every year to study in Class IX from Hindi to Non-Hindi speaking area and vice-versa.
The campus facilities include well-equipped laboratories for computer science, math, language, physics, chemistry and physics, a library stocked with more than 8,000 books and references, multimedia classroom, SUPW and music room, multipurpose hall, MI room, dormitories for boys and girls, dining hall and staff quarters.
The sports infrastructure includes a football ground, volleyball courts, basketball courts, badminton court, Kho-Kho, kabadi and handball courts.
The school follows CBSE curriculum and offers science and commerce streams. Besides academics, the school also offers various co-curricular actives for balanced and holistic development of its students. To nurture and maintain competitive spirit with excellence, student strength from class VI to XII is systematically divided on the basis of genders and class into 12 subsequent houses. The role of house system is of vital importance and house masters/mistresses are entrusted with responsibility to look after and cater all sorts of needs of the students.

Admission in JNVs is made through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) at Class VI. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to class VIII and English thereafter for math, science and Hindi for social science. Students of the JNVs appear for X and XII class examinations of the CBSE.
JNVST is of nonverbal nature, class neutral and designed to ensure that talented children from the rural areas of Hamirpur district are able to compete without facing any disadvantages and also to ensure that children from far flung rural areas get admission forms free of cost without any problem.
All the children who have passed Class V from a recognised school and are between 9 to 13 years of age are eligible to write JNVST for admission in Class VI. As per the scheme, a maximum of 80 students can be admitted in Class VI.

JNV Rajnandgaon is part of the JNV group of schools which is fully financed and administered by the Government of India through an autonomous organisation, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti which aims to provide access to quality education to the children predominantly from rural areas.
The school campus hosts 10 dormitories, of which six are for boys and four for girls. The dormitories have a twin kitchen-cum-dinning hall and serves the purpose of mess.
