Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary convened a meeting with officials from the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department on Tuesday to discuss the effective implementation of Central government initiatives aimed at improving education in the state.
During the meeting, Chaudhary reviewed the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) and the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) schemes. He acknowledged the efforts of the Yogi Adityanath government in executing these programs but emphasized the need for more rigorous implementation. Chaudhary called for comprehensive updates on these initiatives and suggested enhancing their impact through the addition of programs such as ‘Preeti Bhoj,’ which focuses on improving the quality of mid-day meals.
To date, 925 schools and 782 schools in Uttar Pradesh have been designated as PM SHRI Vidyalayas in the first two phases of the scheme. Chaudhary, accompanied by senior officers from his ministry, conducted a thorough review of various education programs and discussed strategies for further development.
He also announced a new agreement with the Ministry of Education to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into the curriculum at IIT Kanpur. This initiative aims to keep pace with global educational standards and technological advancements.
Chaudhary urged officials to integrate industrial experience into the secondary school curriculum by establishing partnerships with ITI and Polytechnic institutions. This practical exposure is intended to better prepare students for future career opportunities.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the urgent need to establish Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) labs in all schools across the state. These labs are crucial for modernizing the educational infrastructure and equipping students with essential digital skills.
Chaudhary’s directives underscore a commitment to enhancing educational quality and ensuring that Uttar Pradesh’s schools are well-equipped to meet contemporary educational demands.
