Affiliated with the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE), UK and the Geneva-based International Baccalaureate (IB), the school aims to nurture inquiring young minds through unique and stimulating teaching approaches that incorporate the best of national and international curricula.  The school offers a learning experience  which, while remaining firmly rooted in Indian values, enables students to become capable leaders and effective communicators who can adapt effortlessly to a culturally diverse and ever-changing world.

JBCN International School, Parel has carved a niche for itself as a  “progressive institution”. This USP is evident in every aspect of the school, from offering a future-oriented,  blended programme of international curriculum from Cambridge and the IBO aligned to its own EduCreative attributes, to  providing a progressive learning environment where learners develop their full potential. Through highly personalised learning and emphasis on experiential learning, problem solving and critical thinking, the programme encourages entrepreneurship, social responsibility and life skills.

Campus

The school’s 2.4 acre fully WiFi enabled campus hosts 58 spacious temperature-controlled Smart classrooms, 3 laboratories dedicated to the sciences (1 each for physics, chemistry and biology), 2 ICT laboratories, and a well-catalogued library, among other academic facilities. The school also provides specially curated zones for pre-primary section such as the Expressive zone, Active zone, Construction zone, Sensory zone and Discovery zone to support experiential learning.

To enable the holistic development of students, the school hosts an excellent infrastructure for sports education. Facilities include a swimming pool, a skating rink, multipurpose court (for basketball, tennis, football and cricket), a ball pool and play pen with jungle gym for the kindergarten section.

Academics

Affiliated with the internationally acclaimed CAIE and IB boards, the school offers the following curriculum for various classes/grades:

Grade 1 to 5 – Candidate IB School for PYP.

Grade 6-10 – Cambridge IGCSE

Grade 11 & 12 – IB Diploma Program

The Early Years follows a spirally advancing curriculum model that incorporates best practices from internationally acclaimed pedagogies such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Steiner, leaning heavily towards inquiry-based learning practices of the PYP.

The Primary Wing builds on inquiry and a constructivist approach to teaching and learning. It builds on the innate feeling of curiosity that makes learning enduring and action-oriented. The student-centred approach enables each learner to get a choice and voice, making learning a two-way process. Field trips and guest speakers add perspective to teaching and learning.

At Secondary School, teachers follow a combination of classroom instruction and discussion, discovery in our labs; technology through monitored access to the internet; knowledge gained from a well-stocked learner resource centre; creative expressions and physical development to ensure that our programme is delivered successfully to our learners.

Committed to the continuous professional development of its teachers, the school facilitates regular teacher training programmes. Teachers spend 30-40 days annually in upgrading their skills and professional competencies. The school academic year begins with a two-week professional development schedule for the teachers, with sessions planned for in-service and newly joined teachers. One Saturday of every month is designated as a working Saturday for the teaching staff, devoted for professional development. Staff members are registered for the authorised professional development of the CAIE and IB as mandated by the curriculum delivery guidelines of the respective organisations. A two-day faculty professional development session is conducted at the close of the academic year to reflect on the current year and plan for the next academic year.

Extracurricular activities

The school offers a wide array of extracurricular activities to support the holistic development of students from pre-primary through the secondary level. Among them:

Pre-primary School – Theatre Arts, Music, Lego, Robotics, Art and Dance

‘InspirUS’ is an annual multi-day extravaganza that is filled with an exceptional display of skills, camaraderie, sportsmanship and team spirit across all grades. It is the largest platform for our learners to not only showcase their passion and talent but to step out of their comfort zone and attempt the new and the challenging.
