Jeppiaar Engineering College was inaugurated on August 15, 2001 as one of the prestigious institutions of Jeppiaar Educational Trust founded by Col. Dr. Jeppiaar - an industrialist, educationalist, and a philanthropist. The college is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and is affiliated with the Anna University, Chennai. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Government of Tamil Nadu. The college’s mission is to establish sustainable partnerships with industries, educational institutions and R&D laboratories for mutual benefits.
The 48 acre college campus hosts a state of the art air-conditioned computer laboratory with servers and internet facilities, well-equipped laboratories for Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bio-technology and Mechanical engineering. The well-stocked library features a huge collection of over 1,04,397 books, 8,292 titles and 550 CDs. The college has access to 1,273+ e-resources, ASME journals, IELonline, and Springer Link. Other facilities include an auditorium with a seating capacity of 3,500, a fully air conditioned and 540 seat mini auditorium, medical facility, a huge mess with a dining hall, kitchen, and ice cream parlor. Sports facilities include facilities for indoor games such as table-tennis, carrom and chess. It also provides facilities for outdoor games such as basket ball, volley ball, football, cricket, throw ball and kabadi with separate court for each.
