JNUSU calls for university strike today

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union has called for a university strike today (October 5) to protest against the administration for not inviting them for the academic council meeting.

The JNUSU alleged it has been debarred from the academic council meeting, “where the dubious proposal of online entrance examination is being sought to be imposed”.

“The JNUSU has come to know that the JNU Vice-Chancellor has called for an AC meeting on Friday at 2.30 p.m. The JNUSU has not been invited to this meeting, where regressive anti-student policies are again going to be pushed through. Online examination will be given the AC’s approval, a university-level timetable will be introduced further constricting academic autonomy of the different centres and schools,” the JNUSU said in a statement.

“We cannot allow JNU VC to destroy JNU. Let’s stand united and resist this Draconian move,” read a message circulated by the students’ union.

The students’ union will be protesting outside the academic council meeting.
