Karnataka: Colleges asked to consider postponement of exams

The additional chief secretary of the department of higher education has called upon Vice-Chancellors of universities to consider postponing the semester examinations of degree courses by one month.
 
G Kumar Naik, ACS, Department of Higher Education, has, in a press statement on Wednesday said that he has asked the VCs to take decision regarding postponement of examinations since teaching of syllabi is yet to be competed. This comes as colleges remained closed or functioned on a hybrid model because of the Covid-19 pandemic. 
 
The teaching could not be completed within the stipulated timeframe as in-person classes had to closed in view of surge in Omicron cases during the third wave of the pandemic which was in its peek since January. Some of the universities had already announced schedule of semester examinations. 
 
 “But, The Commissioner, DCTE, had written a letter asking to postpone the examinations by a month in order to facilate students better prepare,” he said stating that this was the reason he approached the VCs to consider postponement.
