The Karnataka government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based real estate developer Embassy Group to support the comprehensive development of government schools across Bengaluru.
Signed on June 2, the MoU outlines a three-year partnership running from May 2025 to April 2028. According to a press release issued by Embassy Group on Wednesday, the initiative will cover 40 government schools and involves a proposed investment of Rs 15 crore. The programme will focus on improving educational resources, upgrading infrastructure, and introducing comprehensive health initiatives.
“This collaboration serves as a model for sustainable development in education — demonstrating the impact of consistent, long-term support for communities,” said K V Trilok Chandra, Commissioner of Public Instruction, Department of School Education, Government of Karnataka.
This new agreement builds on a partnership that was originally launched in 2018, the release noted.
Shaina Ganapathy, Head of Community Outreach at Embassy Group, expressed hope that the initiative would inspire other like-minded organisations to work with the Department of Education to create lasting, meaningful change.
As part of the renewed partnership, Embassy Group will roll out a variety of educational programmes. These include the annual distribution of starter kits with learning materials and specialised initiatives in Math, Sports, Kannada, and English. After-school academic support will also be provided.
Other planned measures include scholarships for higher education, career guidance, mentorship, educational tours, industry exposure, and financial support for guest and full-time teachers.
In addition to academic initiatives, the Embassy Group will also focus on improving school infrastructure through repairs, renovations, new building projects, and daily maintenance.
