Technology is evolving at such a rapid pace and the nature of its interconnectivity is bringing rapid change on a global level. As I sit here writing today, I am surrounded by physical and digital products that make my life easier, faster, varied, connected and better in ways I would not have dreamed of ten or even five years ago. Whilst exciting, at times it can also feel a little overwhelming trying to keep up. However, as we all adapt to our own ‘industrial revolution’ it also brings into focus the importance of equipping future generations with the tools and knowledge to succeed and be happy.
At Lodha Oakwood School, we see this as the ‘three dimensions’ of learning. This can be implemented by parents, educators and policymakers to promote adaptability, resilience, and continuous learning.
One – Ensuring digital literacy and technical skills by ensuring time and exposure to work with a wide variety of technology through partnership programmes with academic and private sector organisations leading innovation and ensuring our teaching team grows with the technology.
Two – Cultivating a growth mindset by embracing innovative teaching methods together with timeless principles and proven theory to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration. Emphasising these skills will enable children to adapt to new technologies and leverage them for the betterment of society.
Three – Encouraging the continued appreciation of the arts and humanities to nurture what it means to be human and develop a sense of what is uniquely them as individuals. This brings purpose to why we use the technology and ensures emotional and mental wellbeing.
By incorporating these elements into our educational framework, we ensure to empower our students to embrace innovation and contribute meaningfully to society.
