Bangalore, October 4. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Manipal ProLearn, a professional learning arm of the Bangalore-based Manipal Global Education Services (MaGE), and Atlanta (USA)-based Equifax Inc, a global information solutions company. The MoU aims at creating industry-ready professionals specialised in data science and analytic skills for the banking financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector.
Manipal ProLearn will enhance the learning experience of its students by updating its curriculum with case studies and other industry inputs. Equifax will also convene regular webinars and classroom sessions to train Manipal ProLearn students about data analytics in the BFSI industry. Equifax will also continuously evaluate students of Manipal ProLearn for placement in their analytics team.
“Today, the largest requirement of data analytics professionals — about 40-45 percent — is from the BFSI sector. The agreement with Equifax will update and contemporise Manipal ProLearn’s study programmes and qualify our students for global employment,” said Ravi Panchanadan, managing director & CEO of MaGE, speaking on the occasion.
Khushwant Singh Lit Fest 2018
Kasauli, October 15. The seventh edition of the Khushwant Singh Litfest (KSLF) was held in Kasauli (Himachal Pradesh) — the summer vacation hill station frequented by the late editor-author Khushwant Singh (1915- 2014), on October 12-14. The theme of KSLF 2018 was ‘Strength of a Naari — The Rise of Women in an Age of #MeToo’.
Several ‘Joy of Learning’ contests were simultaneously conducted in 1,000 K-12 schools in Himachal and Punjab and winners from over 10,000 children who participated in drawing and essay writing contests were awarded prizes by eminent artist Jaideep Mehrotra, film makers Saeed Mirza and Sudhir Mishra and author Anuja Chauhan.
In the art competition, the winners were Simran, Blossoms Sr. Sec. School, Patiala; Phurichaya Ruangthong, Auckland House, Shimla; Palakpreet Kamboj, Pinegrove School, Subathu; Sanjana, Blossoms Sr. Sec. School, Patiala. In the ‘Strength of a Naari in the age of #MeToo’ essay competition, the winners were: Prakriti, Auckland House, Shimla; Sharlene, Auckland House, Shimla; Ankur, Kasauli International Public School and Muskaan, St. Mary’s Convent School, Kasauli.
Cash prizes of Rs.1,000-4,000 were awarded to the winners of the art and essay competitions by the Bangalore-based EducationWorld — The Human Development Magazine.
CENTA-EducationWorld accord
Bangalore, October 21. The Bangalore-based Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA, estb. 2015), a not-for-profit teacher training, development and accreditation social enterprise which has accredited 35,000 K-12 school teachers over the past three years, has concluded an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with EducationWorld.
Under the terms of the MoU the two parties agreed to examine ways and means to grade schools implementing best teacher training and professional development practices for inclusion in the annual EducationWorld India School Rankings. CENTA will assess and rate schools implementing best practices in teacher training and professional development.
Moreover, winners and awardees in the CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO), scheduled to be conducted countrywide on December 8, will be profiled and interviewed on EducationWorld’s social media sites under www.educationworld.in portal.

The CENTA TPO is a nationwide competition for teachers in which we award outstanding teachers and teacher aspirants from across the country to create exciting career paths for them. Indian School of Public Policy
New Delhi, October 23. The Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP), the country’s first school focused on design and management of institutions and rules that govern society, was launched by former policy makers, industry leaders, philanthropists and eminent academics.
The school will develop a new class of policy leaders for India by equipping policy professionals with knowledge, skills, wisdom and ethics to understand, design and implement local solutions to India’s policy and governance challenges. The one-year, Masters equivalent programme will be a blended design of theory, perspectives and best-practices of public policy from around the world.
ISPP has secured the commitment and support of Deloitte, Uber, PwC, Twitter, Dasra, Skill India, GMR Group and Manipal Education Group among other companies. Dr. Shubhashis Gangopadhyay, founder-director of the India Development Foundation and former professor at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata has been appointed founding dean of the school.
