A high-level delegation led by Samir Kumar Biswas, chairman of the Maharashtra government’s Professional Courses Admission Regulatory Authority, visited the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on Monday to study its examination system and the reforms implemented.

Accompanying Biswas was senior IAS officer Dileep Sardesai, commissioner of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell and also the member secretary of the Admission Regulatory Authority.

KEA executive director H. Prasanna and administrative officer Islavuddin Gadyal gave the delegation a presentation detailing various reform measures undertaken to enhance transparency and operational efficiency at KEA.

Extensive discussions were held on conducting entrance exams transparently and the subsequent seat allocation process for professional courses. The delegation was also briefed on the reforms introduced to prevent malpractice.

The Maharashtra team appreciated KEA’s initiatives such as online application submission and document verification, implementation of facial recognition technology to prevent impersonation, webcasting, and the simultaneous seat allotment process for engineering and medical courses.

Karnataka was the first state to implement the CET (Common Entrance Test) system. The Maharashtra delegation is on a two-day visit to the state to study the model.
