The Maharashtra government’s higher and technical education department will implement a ‘Quantum Computing Initiative’ whereby more than 500 professors from various universities and technical colleges across Maharashtra will be given special training in quantum technology.
The initiative aims to equip faculty with cutting-edge knowledge and teaching skills, aligning with the goals of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and the vision of a “Developed India 2047.”
Higher and technical education minister Chandrakantdada Patil said that emphasis will be placed on quantum computing, research, innovation and skill development, fields critical to making Maharashtra globally competitive in education, technology, and industry.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with i-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University of Technology.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by minister Chandrakantdada Patil and attended by B. Venugopal Reddy and Dr Vinod Mohitkar, additional chief secretary and director of the higher and technical education department; Dr Karbhari Kale, vice chancellor, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University of Technology; Dr. , Praveen Pardeshi, CEO ‘ Mitra Institute; Dr. J. B. V. Reddy, Head of Quantum Technology Cell (via video conference); Dr. Kunj Tandon, CEO of i-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation and Prof. Sunil Nair, project director, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune among other key education officials.
