Maharashtra varsity exams to have online-offline mode option

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, university examinations in Maharashtra will be through online as well offline modes for the convenience of students, state higher and technical education minister Uday Samant said on Saturday.

While speaking to reporters in Nanded, Samant said that the implementation of this process would be decided at the university level.

“The option to appear for examinations in the online or offline modes will be kept open for students. This was decided at a meeting of vice-chancellors of universities in the state,” he added.

Earlier, Uday Samant, State Higher and Technical Education Minister had announced that colleges in the state will reopen from February 15 with 50 percent capacity following Covid-19 protocols. For college students, the rule of minimum attendance of 75 percent will be waived off for this year. All hostels may not reopen as some of them are being used as quarantine centres, the Minister had added.

The students and staff members will have to wear face masks and maintain social distancing inside the campuses. Universities and colleges will have to provide sanitisers inside the campus.
