Overview

The Mahindra Academy, Malad, Mumbai, is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and prepares students for its class X SSC exam.

Mahindra Academy believes in providing its 1,200 students contemporary education rooted in values and ethics. The school was established in June1970 as Students’ Academy. The school primarily caters to the children of employees of M/s. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. However, other eligible students are also admitted. The school is managed by a Governing Council consisting of members of the Mahindra Education Society.

Campus

The school is housed within a three storied building, set amidst well-laid gardens. There are two well-equipped science laboratories where demonstrations and practicals are conducted. Computer education is introduced at the primary and secondary level, and supported by adequate infrastructure. The audio-visual lab is used by teachers to make learning a joyful experience.

Facilities for sports and games such as kabaddi, chess, table tennis, badminton and football, are offered.

Academics

Mahindra Academy is affiliated to the Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and prepares students for its class X SSC exam. The school places emphasis on imparting holistic education with teachers attending regular in-service training programmes and workshops to keep abreast of latest pedagogies and trends. Integration of technology into classroom teaching-learning is also given high priority.

The school offers Maharashtra Cadet Corps training to class IX students as part of its syllabus. Students participate in sports activities and attend camps which encourage personality development.

Extracurricular

Activities such as dhand-baithaks, yoga, kabaddi, chess, table tennis, badminton and football are offered. The school has tied up with Mahindra United, which offers students structured, professional coaching in a number of sports.

Elocution and oratory competitions, quiz contests, essay writing competitions, and art and craft exhibitions are organized round the year. Cultural programmes and inter-house competitions provide opportunities for students to display their creativity.

Admission

The admission process starts in the month of December. Students must be 3 ½ years on June 15 to apply. Preference is given to children of the employees of Mahindra & Mahindra, but others also can apply. Seats are available, subject to vacancy in the class. Forms will be issued only to the parent of the child for whom admission is sought.
