Mangarh massacre to be included in Rajasthan syllabus: Gehlot

Plans are afoot to include the history of the 1912 Mangarh massacre in the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education syllabus, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said in Jaipur on November 17. The government is examining the events that led to the massacre, he added.

“We are examining the records so that history can be popularised. The country should be aware that tribal communities like the Bhils had played an important role in the freedom struggle,” said Gehlot. The chief minister also unveiled a statue of Govind Guru, a freedom fighter, at Mangarh Dham in Banswara district and also paid homage to the martyrs of the Mangarh massacre by British troops.
