MDAE partners with MU to offer PG Diploma in Economics and Finance

The Mumbai based Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics (MDAE) (estb. July 2015) will now offer its one year post graduate diploma in Economics and Finance in collaboration with the Department of Economics (autonomous), University of Mumbai. Some of Mumbai University’s faculty are already a part of MDAE currently.
The second semester MDAE curriculum has been expanded substantially to include Data Analytics and Public Policy as elective subjects in the forthcoming academic session beginning July 2016. Finance which was the only elective subject until last year has also been updated. Studying Economics is mandatory for the first semester.

Our unique teaching methods focus on applied learning rather than rote learning. Students participate in workshops, seminars with top economists and finance professionals besides presenting project work based on real world finance issues.”

Students taking up Data Analytics will attend 150 hours of classroom time in analysis of data in order to develop a strong quantitative and analytical skills. Data analytics is in great demand from financial services, e-commerce and consumer marketing corporations with regards to decision making on branding, corporate strategy, and consulting among others.

Lord Desai is Professor emeritus, London School of Economics and Life Peer British House of Lords. Dr Indu Shahani, dean of Mumbai based HR College is the vice chairperson of MDAE.
