Nalanda Learning, a technology-based education provider has appointed an educator from Wales to help the company design a comprehensive roadmap to become the market leader in producing best educators in the early childhood education sector, Tamal Mukherjee, founder director of the company said.
The Management and Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC), an authorised body under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), of Government of India has recently assigned the company to develop the content of its first-ever training programme for pre primary educators to equip them with the skills needed to promote growth and development of young children as per the standards set in NEP 2020.
“Our intent and focus is to become the market leader in helping educators become the best educators they can be,“ Chris Raybould told EducationWorld who recently visited Kolkata after he was appointed as the CEO of the company.
To offer quality training at national and international standards the company would require significant funding, the CEO said.
The company has set a target to raise Rs 50 crores for the training and overall growth of the company, Raybould said.
The company is in talks with high-net-worth individuals for generating the targeted funds on a private placement basis, the CEO said. The funds will be raised in the current financial year and utilized entirely on the training programme, Raybould said.
The company also has plans to impart similar preschool teacher training in some Gulf countries.
The National Education Policy 2020 emphasises largely on the need to offer age appropriate high standard learning and teaching in the early years of every child. The NEP also proposes to create a pool of qualified pre primary educators to ensure that every child develops their full potential.
“There is a burgeoning demand for well-educated teachers for the preschool children for nursery, junior Kg and senior KG classes. We are trying our best to explore every possibility to offer the best training to the teachers as preschool education shapes the trajectory of a child’s holistic development and builds the foundation for the future,” Mukherjee said.
The teachers will be awarded a certificate after completing the training which will offer several benefits to the teachers as well as to the learners.
“The programmes cover best practices in early childhood education, child development theories and effective teaching strategies which will equip teachers with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills. This will open doors to more job opportunities for them. Students will benefit because they will be taught by teachers with the appropriate training to offer an environment where they can learn with enthusiasm,” Mukherjee said.
