Affiliated to the Mumbai University, Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, was established in 1964 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), a Gujarati trust managing various academic institutions.
The vision of Narsee Monjee College is “To be a vibrant and innovative centre for education, to equip students with knowledge and skills in their chosen stream, inculcate values, identify hidden talents, provide opportunities for students to realize their full potential and thus shape them into future leaders, entrepreneurs and above all good human beings.”
NM provides excellent infrastructure to facilitate the education process, and enhance the learning ability of the students. The college houses a modern air-conditioned office block, modern well equipped air-conditioned classrooms, well planned corridors and elevators. Every classroom is affixed with overhead LCD projector to facilitate the teaching learning process.
There are three computer labs on campus installed with 80 branded personal computers with a dedicated lease line for Internet connectivity. The talent of the students is given a supportive platform through the auditoriums and conference rooms of the SVKM. SVKMs Juhu Jagruti Hall, Bhaidas Sabhagriha, Jashoda Rang Mandir and Santokba Hall are available to the college for its events The spirit of sportsmanship is encouraged by the college by providing adequate facilities for indoor games. The college participates in games from the district to the national levels. Well-known coaches train students for indoor and outdoor games, training them to excel at inter-college tournaments at national and international levels.
The college has a spacious two floor, centrally air conditioned state-of-art library with a seating capacity of around 300 students, along with CCTV, wi-fi and facility to plug-in the laptop on every table. The library has a wide collection of 66900 gross numbers of books relating to various topics, 94 Journals and magazines and 307 CDs. The library has institutional membership of British Council Library-www.mylibrary.britishcouncil.org, American Centre library, Indian Commerce Association and Maharashtra Economic Development Council.

Placements:
The training and placement cell of NM begins training students for the corporate world from the first year of degree college till the final year, focusing from self-development and communication skills to management skills and goal setting. The cell provides workshops and training to students in honing their interview skills, inter-cultural communication, business etiquettes, leadership and teamwork
The placement procedure includes a written/aptitude test, group discussion and personnel interview. The campus placement process for the academic year starts from November to February. The selected students will be available to join the company tentatively in the month of May – June after completion of their final exam. Sponsored companies participating in the annual placement drives include Ernst & Young, Accenture, KPMG, Nielsen, Deloitte and Teach for India.
Recent placement highlights- 2018-20: The highest CTC offered to BBA students stood at INR 5.2 LPA, the median CTC being INR 3.3 LPA. The salary packages offered to students from other programmes also lay in the range of INR 2-5 LPA.

The Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal has a common men’s hostel for all its institutions at a distance of a half-kilometer from the college and a hostel for girls opposite Utpal Sanghavi School, which is also close to the college.
