Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar was founded in 1987 as Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar and acquired the status of a deemed university in 2002. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has declared the Institute as “Institute of National Importance” under the Act of Parliament-2007. It is one of the 20 youngest National Institutes of Technology in the country. The college features a sprawling 154-acre campus hosting state-of-the-art infrastructure. The institute takes in 50 percent students from the state of Punjab and the rest from other states. The institute has been consistently ranked among top fifty non-IIT engineering colleges in India by leading education surveys conducted annually. The institute’s Centre of Training and Placement makes arrangements for campus interviews for the final year B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc. students. A host of reputed firms visit the institution for recruitment drives every year, including Ashok Leyland, CapGemini, DRDO, IBM, ITC Ltd, BPCL, Hero Honda Motors and Hewlett Packard, among others.
