National Public School (NPS), Gopalapuram, Chennai is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded in 1970, the school offers education from class I through XII.

The school offers computer education from class I through XII. Computer science and informatics practices prescribed by the CBSE are offered as optional subjects to students at the senior secondary level.
Students are subjected to continuous assessments and application based questions are incorporated in testing. Grades are awarded on an eight point scale in keeping with the norms of CBSE.

Admission is open to all children from class I to IX and XI, irrespective of caste, creed, race, region or gender; however preference is given to siblings, children of Alumni and teachers and for those nationally mobile group and those from Central transferable services of India.
Application forms must be collected in person duly filled and handed-over at the school office. Selected students are required to qualify themselves in a written test before admission is ensured.
Registration for admission does not guarantee a seat. Admission is granted based on the vacancies that may occur during the academic year.
Entrance test for classes II to IX are conducted before granting admission as it determines the individual skills a student has acquired before joining NPS.
The age eligibility for class I is 6 years and accordingly for the other respective classes.
