The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has postponed the class 10 and 12 exams scheduled to be conducted from July 17 due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. “In continuation of notification number 14/ 2020 date June 1, 2020, the Public Examination of Secondary and Senior Secondary (Theory) March/ April 2020 rescheduled to commence from July 17 stands postponed till further orders due to COVID-19 pandemic situation,” the notification read .
Students are advised to visit the official websites — nios.ac.in, sdmis.nios.ac.in for further information. Over a lakh candidates had applied to appear for the examination that was scheduled to start from March 24 and later shifted to July 17.
On the other hand, the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced that a committee has been formed to review the situation and submit recommendations to him on NEET and JEE Main exams. A decision on whether the entrances will be postponed or not shall come by Friday evening, sources told India TV.
A plea has also been filed in the Supreme Court for the postponement of NEET exams in the Middle East countries. The plea by parents of the NEET students sought directions to government to set up examination centres in the Middle East countries or postpone the examination due to the Covid-19. JEE Main 2020 is scheduled from July 18 to July 23 while NEET 2020 is scheduled for July 26.
