Overview

An education initiative of K12 Techno Services Private Limited, Orchids The International School (OIS), located at Masjid Bunder in Mumbai, is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and the University of Cambridge Assessments International Examinations (CAIE), UK. K12 Techno Services’ launched its first institution in 1984 and currently boasts over 100 educational institutes across the country. The school’s mission is to help equip young learners with active and creative minds.

Campus

The OIS campus hosts spacious classrooms equipped with smart boards, separate science laboratories, computer lab, aero-modelling lab, well-stocked library, dance room, music room, skating rink and swimming pool.

Day care facility is available only for OIS students.

Academics

Affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi and CAIE, UK, the school offers classes from pre-primary through class XII.

1. Pre-primary School – At this level, children learn basic mathematical exercises, develop motor skills, stamina, balance, rhythm, strength, agility and concentration. The curriculum is derived from Maria Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and Playway philosophies.

2. Primary and Secondary School – The curriculum is designed using Neil Fleming’s VARK theory (visual, auditory, read/write, kinesthetic styles of learning), Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Blooms’ Taxonomy of Learning Domains and Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning Objectives.

3. Primary School – The focus is on developing the basic concepts in core subjects (English, mathematics, sciences, art, music and physical education) through activities, projects and work-sheets.

4. Middle School – It comprises classes VI to VIII and students are provided an option of choosing second language and an activity related vocation (art, drama, music) as per their interests.

At class VIII, a student has the option of choosing between CBSE or Cambridge Board (IGCSE & A levels) for classes IX to XII, depending on his/her future interests.

Co-curricular activities include swimming, robotics, football, volleyball, basketball, skating and aero-modelling.
