Pailan World School (PWS), Kolkata is a co-educational day cum residential school offering day boarding facilities from lower kindergarten to class XII. It is affiliated with the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and the Cambridge Assessments International Examination (CAIE), UK. Sited on 40 acres, the school was established in 2005 by the Pailan Education Trust. One of the first international schools in eastern India, the school is managed by Pearson Schools, part of Pearson Group – the world’s largest and most diversified education and publishing conglomerate. The vision of the school is to ‘create citizens of a global civilization’, and offers a teacher-student ratio of the school is 1:20.

PWS is part of the Palian Group which owns and manages several education institutions including the Pailan College of Management & Technology, Pailan School of International Studies and Pailan Aviation Institute.

Campus

The 40-acre school campus offers spacious classrooms, science laboratories, computer laboratories and a library-cum-resource centre. There is a heritage centre for students where they can explore the world of art and culture. A hygienic infirmary with a full-time nurse and a Residential Medical Officer is provided.

Sports facilities include a gym, swimming pool, cricket and soccer grounds, basketball, tennis, and volley ball courts. On campus is also a cricket academy whose head coach is former international cricketer Devang Gandhi. Mahesh Bhupati’s academy coaches look after tennis while for soccer; the school has collaborated with the All Indian Football Federation

Academics

The school is affiliated to the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and the Cambridge Assessments International Examinations (CAIE), UK and offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), A and AS level curriculum, from LKG to class XII. 

Extracurricular: Students are given opportunities to participate in creative and performing arts activities such as sculpture, dance, drama and music as well as a range of sports activities including soccer, cricket, volley ball, tennis, basketball, badminton and table tennis, martial arts, swimming and horse riding.

Admission

All the forms including application, medical and boarding forms can be downloaded from the school website. The filled-in forms are required to be submitted to the school office along with a non-refundable registration fee of Rs.5000. Admission will be confirmed after assessing the performance of the written entrance test.

Fees: Yearly fees of the school are:

Day boarding— Rs. 131,000 to 273,000

Weekday boarding — Rs.225,000 to 315,00

Full boarding— Rs.249,000 to 365,000

Accommodation

PWS offers boarding facilities to students from class I onwards. All the rooms are well-lit, well-ventilated, and comfortable and equipped with modern facilities. Common rooms offer TV and music systems, books, toys and games.

Day boarding: Day boarding students are transported to and from schools and offered afternoon meals.

Weekday boarding: Working parents can choose this partial boarding system, where the students spend weekdays in the hostel, and go home for weekends.

Full boarding is also offered to students.
