Pine Mount School, Shillong, Meghalaya is an all girls boarding school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Established in 1900 as a primary school, the school upgraded to secondary status in March 1926 and started the higher secondary section in 1992. Today, the school boasts around 1250 students from Kindergarten through class XII.
The lush green school campus is adorned with a variety of trees, plants and shrubs. The campus facilities include a huge library, well-equipped science labs, a home science lab, a computer lab, well ventilated and spacious classrooms, cafeteria, dining hall, auditorium and a conference hall.
The campus also hosts a volleyball court, basketball court and vast play ground with an open air amphitheatre.
Each class is grouped into two sections except the Kindergarten which has four sections. The school’s academic year begins in the first week of March and ends in the second week of December and is divided into two terms, with mid-term exams being held in June/July and promotion exams in November.
At the senior secondary level, the school offers arts and commerce streams and in class VIII, students are offered an option between home science and computer applications. Changing subjects is not allowed after class IX. Apart from academics, the school also offers needle work, art, elocution, SUPW and music in its curriculum. Children are prepared for music exams conducted by Trinity Guildhall, London.
Extracurriculars
The school promotes Guides, Bulbuls and Junior Red Cross. There is also an Eco-club and DNA under the auspices of TERI (The Energy & Resources Institute). Students are also trained in basketball, volleyball, athletics, carrom and chess.

SportsThe school accepts new admissions to kindergarten and forms are issued in the second week of September.
Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the interaction with school authorities in criteria such as lexical order, numerical order, picture recognition, personality, cleanliness, etc. It is mandatory for parents to be present at the time of the interaction. The results are declared by third week of December.
Admissions forms for class XI (both science and arts streams) are issued two weeks after the ICSE exams. Selection process includes personal interview and performance in class X board exams.

EDUSAT network and tele-education (NIC sponsored project in collaboration with Savant Education group, New Delhi) are available in the school to prepare students for engineering and medical entrance examinations.
The school hostel has a staff nurse, a housekeeper and three matrons. There are also helpers who assist the matrons in taking care of the young boarders.
Parents are allowed to visit their children once a week, on Saturdays, between 3:30pm – 5:00pm. The last Saturday of each month is a holiday when parents will be allowed to take boarders out, at the discretion of the principal.
It is mandatory for each boarder to have a local guardian who can be contacted in the event of any emergency.
