PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore is an ISO 9001:2000 certified autonomous, government aided, private engineering college in Coimbatore, India affiliated with the Anna University, offering a total of 48 full time and part time programs in science, engineering and management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels under the 11 engineering and technology, computer applications, management sciences, basic sciences and humanities departments. It boasts a student strength of 8000 with 15 engineering and technology departments beside the computer application, management sciences and basic sciences.

Founded in 1951, the PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore is one of the many educational institutions managed by PSG and Sons Charitable Trust, founded by PS Govindaswamy Naidu. The founder principal of this college was Dr. G.R. Damodaran. In order to achieve their objective of providing industrial training to local youth, the founders decided to set up the college in the same campus as the PSG Industrial Institute. The unique feature of this college is its close collaboration with the industry.

Campus

 The PSG College of Technology is situated about 8 km from Coimbatore railway station and 5 kilometer from the airport. It is a residential institution which offers accommodation to nearly 4000 students. There are seven hostels for boys and two hostels for girls. PSG Tech library is one of the best equipped in terms of the number of books and journals. Other facilities include an open air stadium, laboratories, computers with internet connection, playground, clubs and organizations.

• The PSG Placement team comprises the Dean for Placements & Training, Placement Officer and Placement Coordinator who work with student coordinators and engage with the officials of visiting companies for recruitment. The PSG placement office is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to conduct all placement related activities such as pre-placement talks, written/online tests, group discussions and interviews.
• More than 90 reputed national and multinational companies visit the institution for campus recruitment annually and 90% of the students get recruited in a wide range of job titles and portfolios in accordance with the field of study and industry.
• Some of the top recruiters at PSGCT are ABB Limited, IGATE Patni, Aegan Industries Pvt. Ltd., IBM India, Hyundai Motor India, Robert Bosch, Renault Nissan, Royal Enfield and ITC ABD Ltd.
• Recent records: seven companies visited the campus in 2019, recruiting 789 students placed in B.Tech. and 11 students placed in M.Tech. The highest recorded salary was INR 9 LPA while the average recorded salary was INR 4.3 LPA.

Admission

To apply for admission to PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, applicants must register themselves through the official college website. Required details (personal profile, educational qualifications and entrance scores) and documents must be uploaded on their applications along with the payment of the registration fee.

Admission to undergraduate courses

Selection Process- Admission to B.E/B.Tech. courses is done through the single window counseling by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai based on the total marks obtained in class XII mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Eligibility-

• For direct entry, students must have passed 10+2/HSC examinations from a recognised board to qualify for first-year entry into B.E/B.Tech. programs
• For lateral entry, students must possess an ITI/Diploma degree to qualify for second year entry into B.E/B.Tech. programs

Admission Process-

• Eligible students must register for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) conducted by Anna University each year and upload necessary documents along with the payment of the registration fee
• B.Tech./B.E selection cut offs are released by Anna University based on TNEA. PSG College of Technology then prepares the merit list accordingly and offers admission to students.
• For admission to B.Sc. courses, selection is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination for applied sciences. Selection to the Computer System and Design programme is done on the basis of a mathematics online examination conducted by the institute.

Admission to postgraduate courses

Selection Process: For postgraduate courses such as M.B.A., M.C.A., M.E., M.Tech., students must clear the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University, Chennai each year. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores are also accepted for admission to M.E./M.Tech. courses.

Eligibility- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in any relevant discipline (5% relaxation for SC/ST applicants from Tamil Nadu). 

Admission Process- 

• Candidates must produce scores obtained in qualifying exams (TANCET/GATE)
• Candidates must register for TANCA counselling and upload required documents
• Final seat allocation by TANCA will be based on the combined scores in UG and in entrance test scores (TANCET/GATE).
• The final selection of candidates to the M.Sc. Integrated programme is done on the basis of an online test conducted by the institute based on HSC Mathematics followed by an interview.
• The final selection of candidates to the M.B.A./P.G.D.M. programmes is also subject to their performance in the private interview (PI) or group discussion (GD) round.

Admission to research courses (M.S and Ph.D)

Selection Process- 

• All candidates are required to appear for an entrance exam conducted by Anna University.
• Applicants who qualify for national level entrances like GATE or UGC-NET or JRF or SET, etc are exempted from appearing for the internal entrance.

Eligibility Criteria- M.E/M.Tech. or M.S. (By Research) in the relevant branch of Engineering or Technology

Admission Process- 

• Applying candidates must qualify for accepted national level entrances
• Candidates on qualifying the eligibility criteria and/or the national level entrance(s) will be called for a written test and personal interview

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked PSG College of Technology 49th among engineering institutes in 2020 and 85th overall. NIRF also ranked it 46th in the management ranking.

Accommodation

PSG College of Technology being a residential college, its hostels accommodates about 4300 students in 14 blocks named from A to N of which five blocks dedicated to women. There are five student dining halls, an auditorium, a library, a gym, a computer center and a guest house attached to the hostels.
