Raipur: Kid falls 25 ft due school’s negligence

A class 4 girl of a Raipur school fell over 25 feet and was critically injured after a sports day at her school went horribly wrong. Due to carelessness, the school arranged a sports adventure, wherein children were made to zip line between three-storey buildings without any safety net or even a doctor on standby.

The victim, Kartisha, suffered multiple fractures but got no medical attention for the first 15 minutes since there was no such option. CM Bhupesh Baghel has ordered Raipur collector to investigate on the matter. The collector said a notification has been sent to cancel the affiliation of Radiant Way School.

A video shot by the victim’s mother shows the child as extremely scared as she is asked to cling to the zipline. The incident took place on Tuesday morning but was reported only in the evening. The district education officer filed an FIR against the school management.

Parents complained of no safety net or mattress and cushions to fall over but they didn’t raise any objection as they trusted the school authorities. Although the victim was said to be out of danger, she suffered injuries at her spinal cord and legs.
