An RCB fan’s letter to Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, requesting a public holiday if the team wins the IPL, has gone viral on social media.
Shivanand Mallannavar from Belagavi urged the CM to declare the day RCB wins the title as “RCB Fans’ Festival,” proposing it be made a recurring public holiday for fans to celebrate annually. He also requested statewide celebrations with official arrangements in every district.
RCB will face Punjab Kings on June 3 in Ahmedabad, with both teams chasing their first IPL title. This marks RCB’s fourth final, after finishing runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
Mallannavar also requested the Karnataka government to declare the date a public holiday every year to allow fans across the state to celebrate the momentous occasion annually. He also requested permission for statewide celebrations and suggested that proper arrangements be made to facilitate festivities in all districts of Karnataka, if RCB wins the championship.
Ahead of the final, Bengaluru is buzzing, with banners celebrating Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle put up across the city.
