Established in June 2004, Sarala Birla Academy is a part of the Aditya Birla Group and has been constituted under a separate charitable trust. The school was set up as a residential school for boys and over the years, it has evolved into an international school that’s amongst the best schools in the country. The school admits student from all over the world. Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, the Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group is the Chairman of the Governing Council of the school. The academy maintains the teacher student ratio at 1:10.
The 67 acre SBA campus hosts 33 spacious classrooms equipped with equipped ICT teaching-learning facilities and well equipped separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The school hosts two computer labs with 25 to 30 computers each. The library houses 8000 volumes in printed and electronic version. Sarala Birla Academy is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, Cambridge International Examination (CIE), UK and International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), Geneva.
The school offers classes from grade V to XII. For grades IX and X, the students have a choice of the ICSE or the IGCSE curriculum. For grades XI and XII, the students have a choice of the ISC or the IBDP. The school maintains a teacher-student ratio of 1:10.
At Sarala Birla Academy, teacher training is an ongoing process. The teachers travel to various parts of the country and also abroad to stay abreast of the latest teaching methodologies and skill enrichment. The school is also a venue for teachers’ training programs and conferences for international courses such as the IB and the IGCSE.
Extracurricular: Besides academics, the school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities such as, trekking, white water rafting and wilderness camps. The school grants admissions for grades V, VI, VII, VIII, IX (ICSE and IGCSE), and XI (ISC and IBDP). The registration fee is Rs. 5000 and the form can be filled up online.
Candidates seeking admission in grades V to IX are required to write an entrance exam, followed by an interaction with the principal and other concerned authorities to complete the admission process.
The written test will examine the child’s knowledge, skills and proficiency in English and Mathematics.
For admission to grade XI (ISC and IBDP), the candidates are allotted dates of interview with the committee headed by the principal.
Prior to this, the candidates are required to submit transcripts and certificates obtained from the previous institutions. For successful candidates the admission granted is ‘provisional’ until they submit the certificate of completion and pass from the previous Examination Authority.

The school hosts four boarding houses – Aditya, Bhaskar, Martand and Vivasvan. The spacious and comfortable hostel rooms have attached bathrooms.
Each room can accommodate three to six boys. Each boarding house hosts two common rooms equipped with a host of facilities.
