PW invited parents from Saraswati Global School, Greater Faridabad to share their thoughts on how they ensure online safety for their children.
“We ensure our daughter Shreya (class X) is safe online by setting clear rules on her screen time and the websites/ apps she accesses. Parental controls and kid-friendly platforms help us block harmful content while giving her a safe online experience. We regularly talk to her about online dangers like bullying and scams and encourage her to inform us if she ever feels uncomfortable. By remaining informed about the platforms she uses and setting an example with our own safe online habits, we have created an open and secure digital environment for her” — Ruchi Srivastava, homemaker.
“Our sons – Manit (class III) and Bhavya (class XI) — have grown up with technology as a constant companion. We have drawn up rules like no gadgets during meals, screen-time caps, and device-free hours. But it’s more than just rules; we believe in being proactive. Every weekend, we sit with them to review their digital record, discuss online etiquette, and even talk about issues like cyberbullying. This open dialogue ensures they feel safe and confident while navigating the online world and secure they can always turn to us for guidance” — Alok Bohra, corporate executive, Action Construction.
“Ensuring online safety is the foremost priority for new age parenting. This requires a mix of education, supervision and proper usage of tools. Our son Yashveer (class IV) is aware of cyber bullying among other online dangers and is forthcoming while sharing personal information. As parents, we routinely monitor his digital activities and check his Browser at the end of the day. Juggling between teenage and adolescence, our son is confident he can navigate the dangers of the digital age ” — Suman Nagar, Sr Coordinator, Saraswati Global
“Safeguarding the online presence of our teenage daughter Akshara (class X) is as crucial as her physical safety. With constant access to social media, gaming platforms, and chat apps, teens are vulnerable to cyberbullying, identity theft, and online predators. We believe open communication is the key. Therefore, we discuss the importance of strong passwords, recognizing phishing scams, and protecting personal information. We encourage responsible social media usage by setting boundaries on screen time, regularly monitoring her digital activities without invading privacy, fostering trust while ensuring safety. By staying informed and involved, we can guide our teens to navigate the digital world securely” — Richa Garg, entrepreneur.
