Greater Noida based Shiv Nadar University, a multidisciplinary research-focused university, has declared admissions open for the academic year 2018-19. The application deadline is May 28, 2018.
Known for its multidisciplinary curriculum, the university expands its offerings with the introduction of a new undergraduate programme in International Relations – a specialised programme focusing on studying problems which require an interconnected global perspective. Expert faculty members, who bring to bear considerable research experience in International Relations and allied areas such as development studies, ecological economics and political science, will teach the course. The 4-year programme will require students to study the core subjects for the first two years and focus on studying their International Relations electives during the third year. The fourth year will be devoted substantially to research to provide a more experiential understanding of the subject. The electives offered include climate change, inequality and social policy, global refugee politics, international security, histories of international relations, Indian foreign policy, ecosystems, economy and the environment and global political theory, among several other choices.
The university has also announced the launch of a new “Gifted Student Scholarship” programme in addition to the already existing scholarships. With this new scholarship, the university will offer Rs. 40 crore as the total scholarship pool, available to students from the 2018-19 batch. Over the past seven years, the university has disbursed more than Rs. 160 crore as part of its scholarship programme.
The Gifted Student Scholarship will allow meritorious students to study at the university free of cost. Under this programme, the university will consider students with certificates from pre-identified exams. Eligible students will be directly invited for an in-person interview at the university. Once selected, they will be entitled to a 100 percent fee waiver. The scholarship will be extended to:
– Top 10 rank holders in Class XII from each Board of Education
– INSPIRE fellows awarded Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)
– JEE (Advanced) top 500 rank holders

Admissions to the Shiv Nadar University are purely on the basis of merit, with the university not reserving any seats under any specific category. Scholarships at the university cover full or partial educational and living expenses for the entire duration of the undergraduate programme. Apart from the class XII scores, the university evaluates students for their quantitative ability, abstract reasoning, verbal and written communication through a specially designed Shiv Nadar University Scholastic Aptitude Test (SNUSAT). Similarly, candidates are evaluated on their subject knowledge through the Academic Proficiency Test (APT).
Undergraduate programmes include Bachelor of Arts (Research), Bachelor of Science (Research), Bachelor of Management Studies and Bachelor of Technology. The last date off receiving application forms for undergraduate programmes is May 28, 2018, and the last date to appear for SNUSAT and APT test is June 4, 2018.
