The Duolingo English Test (DET) has announced the launch of the 2025 DETermined Scholarship, a $30,000 grant to support one Indian woman pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in STEM at a U.S. university that accepts the DET. Applications are open until June 30 via the Manthan portal.
A distinguished six-member jury from science, technology, education, and entrepreneurship will evaluate applicants based on academic merit, leadership, and a commitment to advancing India’s innovation ecosystem.

The panel features accomplished leaders who bring both professional expertise and personal insight into what it takes to thrive in global STEM environments. Kirthiga Reddy and Anuradha Acharya, both trailblazers in their respective fields, are expected to serve as role models for aspiring Indian women in STEM. Dr. Sapna Poti emphasized the scholarship’s importance, saying, “Supporting talented women in science and technology through scholarships and mentorship is essential to advancing India’s innovation landscape.”
Arnav Kumar added that beyond financial support, the scholarship provides Indian students with access to a global network and meaningful educational pathways. “The DETermined Scholarship not only funds dreams but also connects recipients with a vision that helps them lead change when they return.”
The Duolingo English Test, known for its affordability and accessibility, is accepted by over 5,800 institutions worldwide including Yale, Columbia, and the University of Toronto. Combining AI, remote proctoring, and the latest in assessment science, DET offers a secure and flexible testing experience for students around the world.
The DETermined Scholarship reflects Duolingo’s broader mission to promote equity in education and nurture future-ready leaders. By selecting one exceptional Indian woman, the program aims to contribute meaningfully to India’s STEM talent pipeline and global innovation footprint.
