Skeleton of missing Sikkim teacher found in Siliguri house after 7 months

The skeletal remains of Passang Doma Sherpa, a government school teacher from Namchi, Sikkim, who went missing in August 2024, were discovered in her house in Siliguri, West Bengal, police confirmed on Thursday.

Sherpa, a Nepali language teacher, vanished on 7 August last year. Her remains were found inside a locked bedroom at her Devidanga property, located in an isolated area nearly 100 km from Namchi.

Police had to forcibly enter the premises, which had been locked from the outside. The remains have been sent for post-mortem and DNA profiling to confirm identity.

Superintendent of Police Karma Gyamtso Bhutia said all possibilities, including abduction, confinement, and unnatural death, are under investigation. Forensic experts are examining the scene to determine the cause of death.
