Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School is a co-ed day school affiliated with the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and the International Baccalaureate, which conducts its International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examinations for class 11 and 12.

The school is located in the lush green surroundings of Jekegram in the heart of the city of Thane. The premier institution was started in 1969 by Shri. Gopalkrishna Singhania. Now it has about 5100 students on roll from KG to class XII. The school is an unaided linguistic minority institution run by the Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania Trust. Air Cdre. Vijaypat Singhania is the Chairman and has on its Board of Governors, eminent professionals from the field of management and education.

Campus

Spread over an area of 12.8 acres, the school’s campus is situated at Jekegram, Thane, close to the city of Mumbai. The academic infrastructure of the institution includes classrooms, laboratories, libraries and ICT rooms. The creative infrastructure features activity rooms, art and crafts room and a music room. There is a healthcare centre and canteen for welfare and the campus features an aquarium, botanical garden, butterfly park and traffic park in its aesthetic infrastructure. 

The school supports holistic development of its students by providing sports infrastructure which includes 5 grounds and a mini stadium ground. Swimming pools, tennis courts, badminton courts and 2 large grounds are also available for the use of the students. The school also provides gym equipment for physical fitness and the latest of all sport-equipment and facilities such as bowling machines, quality equipment for gymnastics-double vault, 3 basketball courts, football courts and a 10,000 sq. ft. space for skating.

Academics

The school is affiliated with the CISCE board conducts its Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations for class 10 and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations for class 11 and 12.

The middle school curriculum widens to include subjects like history, geography, sciences, languages and mathematics. Optional subjects and electives like Scouts and Guides, NCC and Air Wing are offered. Yoga, art, music and sports also form an integral part of the school programme. Students are evaluated on the basis of written assignments such as project work, short tests and term examinations. Regular classroom observations are also conducted by the teachers to facilitate overall growth of the children.

In secondary school, along with the core curriculum, students are offered optional subjects which are focused on enhancing students’ life skills. Based on the student’s aptitude, teachers guide and support the student in making the best choice keeping in mind their interest and future aspirations. One needs to opt for these subjects at class IX. The optional subjects include home science, computer applications, commercial applications, technical drawing, physical education and art.

The school was also authorised as an IB World School by the International Baccalaureate in February 2016 offering the much-coveted Diploma Program. Thus it also conducts its International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examinations for class 11 and 12.

The institution also offers exchange programmes to help widen students’ horizons and mould their personalities.

Admission

The school believes in absolute transparency with regard to its admissions. Prospective parents are required to check up the school website from time to time, to ensure that they do not miss the dates. The admission process is online and based on random sampling. Any wrong information on the application form or any recommendation /request letters will amount to disqualification/rejection of the application. 

Achievement

The International School Award of the British Council was awarded to Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in 2020 leading to more International Collaborations and Global Pedagogy. 

The school is ranked fifth among top co-ed day schools in India by the EducationWorld India School Rankings.

Being a day school Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School does not offer any accommodation facilities.
