SSIS to host International Relations Conference 2016

Under the aegis of the Symbiosis International University (SIU), the Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS) is organising the 4th International Relations Conference (IRC) on December 18 & 19, 2016 titled “India and the Indian Ocean: Sustainability, Security and Development” at the SIU, Lavale campus in Pune.
The conference will bring together policy-makers, bureaucrats, corporate leaders, academics, civil society organisations, NGOs and media professionals from India and abroad, to deliberate on the multifarious aspects of India’s relations with the countries of the Indian Ocean region.

The conference is supported by the Division of Public Diplomacy, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The Vivekanand International Foundation and India Foundation, New Delhi, are the knowledge partners for the conference.

The inauguration ceremony which will take place on Sunday, December 18, will be graced by the presence of H.E. Dr. Ali Al-Bimani, vice-chancellor, Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman, Ram Madhav, director, India Foundation and Amar Sinha, secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Speakers include dignitaries from Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, Kenya, Singapore and India.

IRC 2016 will feature the following sessions:

-Trade, Investment and Economic Growth
-Defence and Security
-Civilisational Linkages and Soft Power Diplomacy
-Development Cooperation
-Blue Economy
