Overview

St. Aloysius Anglo Indian High School, Vishakapatnam is an all boys day cum residential school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Established in 1847 by Father Tissor from the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS), the school is one of the oldest schools in Vishakapatnam. The Gothic architecture of the buildings gives it an old-world charm. The school offers education from class I to class X.

Campus

The school’s three-storeyed building resembles medieval European castles. There is a huge quadrangle at the center of the school complex that is used for assembly and games.

The campus facilities include a well stocked library, well equipped labs, spacious classrooms, sports areas, conference halls and water purification plant. The school also has an old stone chapel.

Academics

St. Aloysius Anglo Indian High School, Vishakapatnam follows the ICSE curriculum from class I to class X. The school’s teaching methodology is designed to assist children to think creatively, logically and rationally, according to the subject. The school hosts seminars, symposiums, discussions and other activities to improve learning and to enhance the classroom experience.

Achievement

St. Aloysius Anglo Indian High School has many firsts to its credit, apart from being the first English medium school with boarding facility in the district. It was also the first to start an industrial school for the poor under the aegis of MSFS in 1890, within the campus. The industrial school was the first of its kind between the Presidencies of Madras and Calcutta. To this day, the school is fondly known as Brother’s Workshop and regarded as a premier training school in Vishakapatnam.
