St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Bankipore is an all girls day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. On the request of Bishop Anastasius Hartman, four sisters from Germany were commissioned to come to Patna to teach, that marked the founding of St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Bankipore in 1853.
Started as a minority school in 1853 to provide an all round education to girls, St Joseph’s Convent High School added a Hindi section in 1950. Girls from English section are prepared for the ICSE examination, while the Hindi medium girls appear for the Bihar Secondary School Examination. The school is managed by the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus. The motto of the school is ‘Nisi Dominus Frusta’ which means without God, nothing prospers.
The school campus comprises of a library, well equipped labs for physics, chemistry and biology, two computer labs for junior and senior sections, a music room, dance room and Smart class rooms from class I to XII. The school also hosts a vast playground.
St. Joseph’s Convent High School follows the curriculum laid down by the Inter State Board for classes I to VIII; in classes V, VI and VII three languages are offered – English, Hindi, Sanskrit/Urdu. For classes IX, X, XI and XII, the school follows the ICSE/ISC syllabus.
Vocational subjects such as home science, computer applications and economic applications are offered in class IX and X.
Science, arts and commerce streams are offered for classes XI and XII.

The school admits children from class I onwards; the age criterion for admission is 6 years for class I. Admissions process starts in the month of February. As part of the admission-selection process, children are invited for an interview and a test.
Admission to other classes is open for transfer cases.
Class XI admissions start in June, soon after the ICSE results are announced.

The students of St Joseph’s Convent High School excel in the CISCE board exams every year by scoring over 95 percentile in the class X and XII board exams.
Being a day school, St Joseph’s Convent High School, Bankipore does not offer accommodation facility.
