Overview

St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Patna is an all girls day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Established in 1852, the school is amongst the oldest missionary schools in eastern India.

The school is managed by Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The medium of instruction is English as well as Hindi (which was added in 1950). The school’s motto is Nisi Dominus Frusta meaning ‘Without God, nothing prospers’.

Campus

The school campus hosts facilities such as library, canteen, two computer labs for junior and senior sections, separate labs for physics, chemistry and biology, a play area and transport facility.

Academics

St. Joseph’s Convent High School follows the curriculum laid down by the Inter State Board for classes I to VIII. In classes V, VI and VII three language formula – English, Hindi, Sanskrit /Urdu is followed. ICSE syllabus is followed from class IX to XII.

The curriculum includes subjects such as science, math, commerce, history and geography and in classes IX and X a choice in vocational subjects like home science, computer applications and economic applications is offered. Extra-curricular activities include physical training, karate, singing, dancing for primary and middle school. Activities like debate, elocution, declamation, painting, S.U.P.W. and cultural programs are organized for all the classes.

At the senior secondary level, students can choose between science, arts and commerce streams.

Admission

The entry level is class I and the age eligibility is six years. Admissions take place in the month of February and interested students need to appear for an entrance test. For other classes vacancies are filled by the transfer cases.

Admission to class XI takes place in the month of June the process begins soon after the ICSE results.

Students of St Joseph’s Covent High School, Patna have won laurels in inter-school, inter district, interstate and international sports competitions.

The school is ranked among the top girls day schools in India by the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2020-21.
