Most students don’t think twice about their favourite snacks, but what if they knew just how much sugar hides in every bite?
In line with CBSE’s visionary initiative, ‘Careful Planning for a Healthier Generation’, DPS Kamptee Road and DPS Mihan have launched a powerful Sugar Awareness Campaign that is gaining attention and transforming habits across both campuses.
At the core of this project are the eye-catching ‘Sugar Boards’—informative displays set up in canteens, hallways, and classrooms. These boards expose the surprisingly high sugar levels in popular snacks and drinks, encouraging students to look beyond the packaging and think critically about what they consume.
The impact has been immediate. Students are more aware, teachers and counsellors are engaging in meaningful discussions and even parents are taking notice. It is more than just a campaign—it is a culture shift toward smarter, healthier choices.
At DPS, this initiative marks the start of a broader commitment to student wellness, because true education goes beyond the classroom. At DPS Kamptee Road, the campaign saw lively student participation through various creative activities. Students from Grades III to IX participated in a sugar-free recipe challenge, bringing in homemade healthy alternatives to sugary treats. Along with this, an inter-class poster-making contest titled ‘Less Sugar, More Life’ encouraged students to share their thoughts on sugar consumption and its health effects. The school also organised a student-led rally where students marched around the campus with placards and slogans, educating their peers about the dangers of sugar addiction and promoting mindful eating habits.
The campaign was more than just a week of activities; it was a cultural shift. As beautifully illustrated posters adorned every hallway, the corridors of DPS Mihan and DPS Kamptee Road began to ‘speak the language of health and wellness’.
Recognising that children are most receptive at a young age, the campaign focuses on teaching them to read food labels, choose smart snacks, and critically assess advertising; empowering them with lifelong skills for healthy living. The initiative reflects the schools’ broader commitment to student well-being, aiming not just to educate but to cultivate lasting, health-conscious habits from an early age.
The enthusiastic participation of students, the dedicated involvement of teachers and the strong support of school leadership at both campuses ensured that the campaign was not just informative but transformative.
As DPS Kamptee Road and DPS Mihan continue to prioritise holistic development, this sugar awareness initiative stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to nurturing not just bright minds but healthy bodies.
Because DPS believes “learning is sweet, but health is sweeter.”
