TATA DAV School, Ghatotand was set up in 1987 with an aim to bring quality education to the remote areas of Jharkhand. The school is managed by the DAV College Managing Committee which boasts over 750 educational institutions across India. Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, it offers classes from kindergarten through class XII with both English and Hindi as the medium of instruction.
The school stresses on the importance of the fundamental values of truthfulness, fearlessness and tolerance. With a mission to impart education that is life sustaining and character building, 41 teachers and 16 non-teaching staff members help promote Vedic culture and strive to inculcate societal values in all students.
TATA DAV Public School hosts 55 rooms, 1 digital classroom and an auditorium. Seven well maintained science and computer laboratories are open to students depending on their class. Students from classes II to XII can utilise the computer lab while the science labs are open to only classes VIII to XII students. Students can access photocopying, television, DVD and internet services at the library. The 3.8 acre campus houses a 3.6 acre playground with fields to play football, hockey and cricket. TATA DAV Public School is affiliated with CBSE and prepares students for the class X and XII board exams. Co-curricular activities such as painting, photography, gardening, clay-modelling, sports, yoga, public speaking, drama and debate are organised for the overall growth of students. Various events and competitions, often organised by TISCO management, are held in the school. The school has undertaken a mission to fight cybercrime, create class libraries for primary classes and offer vocational courses for classes V to XII by 2022.
Learning of Sanskrit is encouraged to preserve ancient cultural heritage. Hindi is offered as the second language to students of class IX and X. Science and commerce streams are offered to students in class XI and XII.
