Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia announced on Tuesday, September 17, that the Urdu Academy of Delhi would coach IAS aspirants in Urdu subjects. The academy would also provide study materials in English and Hindi translated to Urdu. He said that the move would be a step towards making Urdu a means to develop careers of the youth.

Sisodia made the announcement while attending a function organised by the Urdu Academy. On the occasion, he interacted with toppers from various universities across Delhi. The students informed the Minister that several students did not take up Urdu as there was lack of study material in their colleges and there were not many career options for those who had taken up the language during higher studies.

The Deputy CM said, “Urdu Academy should start providing coaching to interested students. Study material in Urdu will soon be accessible to students who want to write their papers in the medium. In the way English and Hindi are treated as the standard language of teaching and study, Urdu will also be treated on par with them.”

While attending another event at Delhi Secretariat, Sisodia further interacted with 140 entrepreneurs to discuss Delhi’s Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum. He also discussed about how the government envisioned that it would meet the challenge of contributing to India’s economy and transforming it into a job creator economy.
