Founded in 1992, Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), Chennai is a private university that strives to be an epitome of excellence in higher education by offering its students well-rounded education and mould them according to global industrial requirements. In 2008, VISTAS or Vels University was recognised as a deemed university the University Grants Commission (UGC). Application and prospectus can be purchased online or in person. For professional courses, candidates need to write Vels Entrance Exam. A rank list is prepared after checking eligibility. For Maritime Studies, candidate needs to go through Medical Examinations. Selection is based on merit in the entrance examination and previous academic record followed by interview. Achievement

School of Maritime Studies of Vels University has been Graded A1 by the Ministry of Shipping, and is amongst the Best Maritime Institutions in India. Vels University has been accredited as an “A” Grade institute by NAAC. Vels University is the first institution in Chennai to offer B Pharm (Practice) course.

Accommodation

Separate in campus hostel for boys and girls are available. Laundry facility, medical and hospital facility and mess facility is available at a reasonable cost. Room rent and establishment charges are reasonable.
