Wisdom High, Serene Meadows campus vista: excellent reputation
Set within a green 3.5-acre campus in the heart of the fast-industrialising city of Nashik (pop.2.1 million), over the two decades past, Wisdom High International School, Serene Meadows Campus (WHIS-SMC, estb.2000) has earned an excellent reputation for providing holistic, values-based education to its children. Currently celebrating its silver jubilee, this CISCE (Delhi)-affiliated KG-class X co-ed day school has 1,830 children mentored by 122 well-qualified teachers on its muster rolls. In the latest EducationWorld India School Rankings 2024-25, WHIS-SMC is ranked Nashik’s #1 co-ed day school and among the Top 50 in Maharashtra (pop.130 million). Moreover, WHIS-SMC is ranked #1 countrywide for ‘Social and Emotional Learning’ by an EducationWorld Grand Jury.
WHIS-SMC is the flagship education institution of the Nashik-based Smt. Rukmanrani Roshanlal Gupta Education Trust (regd. 2003), which has also promoted the Wisdom High International School & Junior College and Little Wonders International pre-primary which have an aggregate enrolment of 3,550 students instructed by 342 teachers. Since WHIS-SMC admitted its first batch of 40 pupils in a modest building in downtown Nashik 25 years ago, the school has blossomed into a progressive 21st-century institution offering high quality K-X education.

“In WHIS-SMC, our objective is to nurture children’s academic, co-curricular, and socio-emotional learning skills in a safe and enabling environment. Therefore, the school curriculum integrates sports, co-curricular and life skills education with rigorous academics. Our mission is to develop critical thinkers, innovators and problem-solving global citizens. With a teacher-pupil ratio of 1:15, we pride ourselves for providing individual attention to all children,” says Varsha Mahore, a science, education and law alumna of Nagpur University with close to two decades of teaching experience in Wisdom High, appointed CEO of the school in 2022.
The school’s aesthetically designed campus hosts contemporary academic facilities including an academic main block with 56 well-ventilated smart classrooms, four state-of-the-art science, computer science and language laboratories, a well-catalogued library with over 12,000 titles and dedicated activity spaces to promote all-round development.
The school’s sports infrastructure includes dedicated grounds for football and cricket and a basketball court. These are supplemented with indoor facilities for table tennis, karate, chess, gymnastics, and badminton. Co-curricular education activities designed to develop children’s multiple intelligences include instrumental and vocal music, drama, dance with provision for Trinity London grade exams for keyboard and guitar. Students also have the option to learn Hindustani tabla, vocal classical music, harmonium, kathak and take Gandhar Mandal exams and engage in green and community development initiatives.
In addition, training for Olympiad exams, STEM and robotics workshops, public speaking and debating activities is also available to students. Moreover under the school’s comprehensive Career Guidance program, students receive personalised mentorship and counseling to identify their strengths and weaknesses. The in-house remedial team, includes psychologists and special educators, working closely with children to address their socio-emotional and academic problems.
“WHIS-SMC was conceptualised to arouse and develop the full potential of 21st century learners. Therefore, we have designed inquiry-based experiential education curriculums that promote application of conceptual knowledge and theme-based transdisciplinary learning supplemented by life-skills education which are at the core of our pedagogy. For our highly qualified teachers who drive this institution, professional development training workshops are routinely organised,” says Mahore.
The WHIS-SMC management’s focus on balanced, integrated education has paid off by way of excellent academic outcomes. Of the 173 students who wrote the ICSE class X school-leaving exam in February-March 2024, 85 averaged 90 percent-plus with batch topper Gauri Deshpande averaging 98.08 percent. Moreover, WHIS-SM students routinely excel in inter-school basketball, athletics, tennis, swimming, skating, chess and other sports competitions.
“Although I am satisfied with the development and evolution of WHIS-SMC, continuous improvement is our mantra. For the next five years, our governing board has set several goals including establishing international partnerships to facilitate student exchanges, developing online learning platforms to support blended and flipped learning, strengthening community ties through service-learning projects and volunteer programmes, introducing leadership development programmes and establishing an active alumni network to connect with former students. These will be our focus areas for the next few years,” says Mahore.
