Other facts:
- The Asian yellow-throated marten is the largest of this genre, with the tail making up more than half its length. Its fur is brightly coloured — a unique blend of black, white, golden-yellow and brown.
- Yellow-throated martens are large, robust, muscular and flexible animals with an elongated thorax, small, pointed head, and long neck. Their ears are large and broad but short with rounded tips. The soles of the feet are covered with coarse, flexible hair, though the digital and foot pads are naked and paws weakly furred.
- They are fearless with few natural predators, because of their powerful build and unpleasant odour. They show little fear of humans and dogs and make growling, huffing, and scolding noises when approached by humans.
- They are shy, and sightings are uncommon.
