Amity Institute of Training & Development (AITD) and Amity Institute of Indian System of Medicine (AIISM), Amity University Noida, Uttar Pradesh, jointly organized an online training programme, on “Traditional Medicine-Modern Approaches for Affordable and Accessible Healthcare”, sponsored by Department of Science and Technology.
Speaking at the Inaugural Session, the Guest of Honour, Dr. Upendra Kumar Singh, scientist and director general – Life Sciences, DRDO, MoD, New Delhi, averred, “The importance of traditional medicine cannot be overlooked as India has a history of using the ancient Science of Ayurveda and plants and herbs have always been recognized for their therapeutic and medicinal properties. However, the irony is that since there are no specific guidelines for the usage of traditional medicine therefore people do not recognize its importance.
Speaking about the importance of traditional medicine, he further elaborated, “In the past few years, we have seen a large population of the world practicing Yoga and inclining more towards a natural lifestyle, more so during the pandemic. The world has seen the immense benefits of yoga, people across the globe have happily integrated it in their lifestyle and are regularly practicing it to achieve a healthy body and mind.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, founder president, Amity Education Group, stated, “We are extremely happy to organize this training programme as it reflects our strong belief in our values, culture and traditions. At Amity, we lay great emphasis on Indian “values and sanskars”, which includes traditional medicine and Ayurveda, an integral part of our rich cultural heritage.”
During the five- day programme, various informative panel discussions and interactive sessions on diverse topics such as “Yoga Therapy: Philosophy and Science for Health and Well-Being”, “AYUSH & Holistic Living”, “Traditional medicine: Modern approach to Holistic Health”, “Role of Indian Medicinal plants in Modern Healthcare System”, Integrating traditional and modern medicine for Affordable health-Siddha Perspective”, “Navigating towards achieving holistic health: Yoga & Meditation” and “Philosophy and Science for Health and Well-Being”, will be held. amongst others.
